Judging

We all want a level playing field don't we?

Our aim is that the only thing that determines how you move through the judging rounds is how good your work is. So the awards have been set up with two priorities: that we have completely impartial judging, by experienced cake business experts.

Impartial

We’re using secure and tailored awards software to process every entry. It enables us to make sure our experts are judging completely blind. That means they don't know who the entry is from, and they don't know how the other judges have voted.

In the one category of Cake Business of the Year, anonymity is impossible. We’ve therefore required that judges recuse themselves if they know the applicant.

Expert

We’re beyond privileged to have the judges that we do. They’re some of the UK's leading cake makers, chefs, and business owners. Their opinion comes from hard won experience and you can have absolute confidence they know good cake design, great flavour, and sound business.

Our 2020 experts were invited to judge due to their integrity, experience, and success in the industry.

You can read more about the judges on the category pages.
